The proportion of traffic accidents caused by intoxicated participants
Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most important causes of traffic accidents and represents a major public health problem, as it often leads to disability and takes young lives. It is particularly worrying that traffic accidents with the participation of alcohol, in comparison to traffic accidents without the participation of alcohol, end in a higher percentage with a more serious, even fatal, outcome.
As part of the National Road Traffic Safety Program, Slovenia has set itself the goal of reducing the number of traffic accidents in which alcohol is present as a secondary factor, as well as reducing the number of road users who are under the influence of alcohol.
The share of accidents caused by intoxicated participants describes the number of accidents caused by intoxicated participants in relation to all traffic accidents in the municipality.
Percent (%).
The proportion of traffic accidents caused by intoxicated participants is the ratio between the number of traffic accidents caused by intoxicated participants and the number of all traffic accidents, multiplied by 100. The publications show the average of several consecutive years.
