Health in the municipality 2024: new data on the health of residents of Slovenian municipalities

The National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) has prepared updated data on the health of residents in Slovenian municipalities. All displays are available on the website Health in the municipality obcine.nijz.si. With the aim of strengthening health, preventing disease and thereby reducing health inequalities in the local community, as well as enabling better accessibility and availability of health data in all Slovenian municipalities, the Health in the Municipality content has been created for the ninth year in a row under the auspices of NIJZ experts.

The municipality of Nova Gorica received the title Municipality of Health 2024

At the Zlati kamen awards ceremony on March 19, 2024, the National Institute of Public Health awarded recognition for the fifth year in a row to a municipality that was particularly active in approaches to improving the health of its residents in the past year. The municipality of Nova Gorica received the title of Health Municipality 2024.

Municipality of health - Which local communities do the most for the health of their residents

At the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), we have been monitoring various health indicators for each of the 212 Slovenian municipalities for several years in the "Health in the Municipality" project. Once a year, we prepare publications for each individual municipality, as we are aware of the importance of the local environment for the health of the residents and want to encourage decision-makers at the local level to be more active in the field of health.

The municipality of Logatec received the title Municipality of Health 2022

On March 15, 2022, the National Institute of Public Health, in cooperation with Zlati Kamn, the leading Slovenian portal for monitoring the development of municipalities, awarded the Municipality of Health award for the third year in a row. In addition to the municipality of Logatec, the municipalities of Šentjur, Kanal ob Soči, Koper, Radovljica, Starše, Črenšovci, Mokronog-Trebelno and Ravne na Koroškem were among the nominated municipalities.

Health in the municipality 2023: new data on the health of residents of Slovenian municipalities

The National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) has prepared updated data on the health of residents in Slovenian municipalities. The indicators on an annual level or in multi-year averages include data in 2021, when the events in society and in healthcare were still affected by restrictions due to the covid-19 pandemic, which is also reflected in the indicators shown. The exception is the indicators on new cancer cases, which include data up to 2019.
